Guangdong Procuratorial Authorities Prosecuted 19,742 Cases Involving 37,383 Individuals for Crimes of Disrupting Socialist Market Economy Order

The 21st Session of the Standing Committee of the 14th People’s Congress of Guangdong Province was recently convened in Guangzhou. At the meeting, the heads of the provincial people’s court and the provincial people’s procuratorate delivered reports on their work related to serving and safeguarding the development of a law-based business environment. As is reported, from 2023 to August 2025, procuratorial authorities across the province prosecuted 19,742 cases involving 37,383 individuals for the crimes that disrupted the order of the socialist market economy. They exercised equal accountability, equal charges, and equal penalties for acts infringing upon the property rights and legitimate interests of entities under all forms of ownership. Specifically, they prosecuted 3,815 trademark-related crimes involving 6,770 individuals, as well as 148 cases involving 304 individuals for crimes such as patent counterfeiting, copyright infringement, selling infringing reproductions, and trade secret infringement.

The procuratorial organs across the province also enhanced supervision over litigation activities related to enterprises, effectively standardizing law enforcement and judicial practices. They developed the necessity review of detention in criminal cases involving business managers and key personnel, and strengthened cross-regional supervisory cooperation regarding community correction of relevant individuals, so as to facilitate the resumption of normal production and operations for enterprises.
